Amanda Sterling travels to Paris to make a film about her great aunt, Sally Sterling, a notorious art forger from the 40’s and 50’s who copied four legendary lost Caravaggios called The Quartet just before she was pulled, drowned, from the Seine in 1952.  Legend had it that The Quartet was a secret commission of four pornographic paintings by one of Caravaggio’s wealthy patrons. Amanda soon discovers the deeper mystery of The Quartet—that her great aunt painted clues to into the copies, clues to the location of the originals. Clues that made no sense unless one had all four copies. To own all four was to possess the map to the originals, four paintings worth untold millions. But Amanda’s not the only one looking for the The Quartet. A mad art dealer named John-Pierre Chapman is on a parallel quest to recover all four of  Sally’s copies, and he is leaving a trail of bodies in his wake. When Amanda and Chapman’s paths cross he kidnaps her and forces her to help him in his search. With the police closing in, Chapman and Amanda careen from a Normandy village to a Montmartre garret, to a cathedral bell tower, to an elite musical academy that was once a brothel, finally ending up at an Ile. St. Louis penthouse apartment. Here, in the glittering heart of the City of Light, Amanda must act or die.
